Bollywood actress Chitrangada Singh and her golfer husband Jyoti Randhawa are officially divorced. A tabloid confirmed this news stating Gurgaon family court had granted divorce. The news of the couple separating and applying for divorce had gained ground months ago, but Chitrangada had rubbished the news.
The couple had applied for divorce last year, and the court granted their request this month. The son Zorawar’s custody has been granted to the actress.
Chitrangada married Jyoti in the year 2001 and their marriage in these 13 years, attracted a lot of attention from the shutterbugs. It was only after marriage that Chitrangada had tried her luck in Bollywood by shifting her base to Mumbai. There was news of widening cracks in the relationship with Chitrangada staying in Mumbai and hardly visiting her husband who was based in Delhi. In fact, Jyoti even went on to express his anguish in media that he misses the old Chitrangada from their courting days in Delhi and that the house felt empty without her.
There were rumors about Chitrangada’s affair with director Sudhir Mishra. He had been quite expressive about his feelings for the married actress. Chitrangada on the other hand, has always maintained silence on her relationship with Sudhir or her marital status, but would never fail to admit that she was lucky to have been giving the right footing in Bollywood under his tutelage. Chitrangada debuted in Sudhir Mishra’s critically acclaimed film ‘Hazaraon Khwaishen Aisi’ in 2003. She took a break from films between 2005 and 2008 and then made a comeback in the film ‘Sorry Bhai’. Sudhir Mishra then gave another film to his muse ‘ Inkaar’ which did average business, when it released in 2012.
