Kangana Ranaut is a successful actress from the Hindi film industry. She is the recipient of 2 Filmfare awards and a National Film Awardfor Best Supporting Actress.
Kangana was born in a small town named Bhambla in Himachal Pradesh, India. At first, she wanted to become a doctor because her parents wanted her to do so. However, she soon realized that medicine held no interest for her and that she wanted to do something creative. She left her home and came to Delhi at the age of 16 years. She started modelling and learnt acting under the tutelage of Arvind Gaur, a theatre director. Soon in 2006, she debuted as the lead actress in the superhit movie ‘Gangster.’

Kangana Ranaut and her Family
Kangana Ranaut was born on March 23 1987 in a small town, formerly called Bhambla now renamed as Surajpur, in Mandi district, Himachal Pradesh. She lived along with her Rajput family in their ancestral mansion in Bhambla. Kangana describes her childhood as being happy and simple.
Kangana’s father Amardeep Ranautis a businessman and into construction and real estate, while her mother Asha Ranautis a teacher. Her grandfather was an IAS officer and her great-grandfather Sarju Singh Ranaut, after whom the town is named, was a Member of the Legislative Assembly. Education and Early life
Kangana Ranaut did her schooling from DAV high school and was an active participant in elocutions, debates, etc. She was also a basketball player.
Kangana was a class topper and used to study for nearly 18 hours a day. She now states that her formal education has not helped her in any way in dealing with real life as an adult. However, she is still passionate about learning things and reading books, albeit the passion is now limited to arts and creativity.
The change in Kangana’s career path occurred after she moved to Chandigarh to study science. Instead of medicine, she got attracted to art and culture. When she failed a test in Chemistry in the 12th standard, her faith that medicine was not her field got all the more strengthened. She has explained that pain was something that she could not afford to see, and a dissection incident at school caused her a lot of depression. Even as a child, Kangana used to cry whenever she saw anyone in pain.
Kangana Ranaut informed her parents about her decision to not pursue medicine. She was then asked to leave home and she did so without a penny in her. She came to Delhi and was searching for a job to meet her daily needs. This is when Elite Modelling Agency, impressed by her style and appearance, asked her to model for them. Kangana began her modelling career at the age of 16, but soon found that the field was too limiting and had no scope for any creativity.
Kangana Ranaut changed her focus to theater and joined the Asmita Theatre Group under director Arvind Gaur. She considers him as the one person who changed her perspective towards life and will forever remain indebted to him. He had advised her thus, ‘If you end up doing theater for the rest of your life, then you will only be wearing khadi clothes, bitch about the famous movie stars, and not have sufficient money to get treated after falling sick.’ She maintains that these words and the ample guidance of her guru made her what she is today.
During her days of struggle in Delhi, Kangana Ranaut was offered a sum of money by her father to help her through the times. She refused to take the money. This further deteriorated the relationship between them. Today, she regrets not having taken the money.
Kangana Ranaut maintains her figure and health by following a strict diet plan and a workout schedule comprising of kickboxing, power yoga, and gym sessions. Her trainer is fitness expert Leena Mogre.

The actress believes that kissing on-screen gives crediblity to the romantic chemistry between the lead characters.
