Himesh Reshammiya is a popular Indian music director, singer, actor, TV producer, screen writer and distributor. He was born on July 23, 1971. His roots belong to Gujarat with his father Vipin Reshammiya hailing from Dungar, Gujarat. In fact, Vipin was the first music director to introduce electronic music in Bollywood
Himesh took a keen interest in music right from early teens. He began his career with HR Productions which made a few shows for Zee TV like Andaz, Dum Dama Dum and Jaan. He also wrote the script and screenplays for these TV serials. In the course of his TV production career, he befriended Salman Khan who gave him his first break in the form of a move ‘Pyaar Kiya to Darna Kya’.
Himesh composed the music for PKTDK, sharing the honors with Sajid-Wajid and Jatin-Lalit. He went on to compose music for a few other Salman Khan movies which included Yeh Hai Jalwa and Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge. However, Himesh’s best musical composition for a Salman Khan movie was Tere Naam (2003).

Himesh Reshammiya’s best-known work is the music for Aashiq Banaya Aapne (2005). Though the movie flopped, the music is memorable even today, especially the remix version of the title song. He entered playback singing in a major way through Aashiq Banaya Aapne, with the title song, Tera Suroor, Tanhaiyaan and Zara Jhoom Jhoom becoming charbusters. He won the Filmfare Award for the Best Playback Singer for Aashiq Banaya Aapne.
Himesh debuted as an actor in the movie ‘Aap Ka Suroor’ (2007) which was a moderate success. He has also taken part in judging and mentoring singing competitions on TV in the form of shows like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge,Sur Kshetra and Music ka Maha Muqqabla. The prolific music director has also composed music for Salman Khan-starrer ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ which releases in 2015.
Himesh Reshammiya’s style of music is a fusion of Western and Indian classic, backed by electronic techno beats. In November 2013, he acted and produced in the movie ‘The Xpose’ which was a surprise hit. He also wrote the story, acted in and composed the music for the film. Himesh’s song ‘ Main aur Tum Agar Hum Jo Jaatey’ turned out to be one of the most popular tracks of 2014. He went on a strict diet for the film and turned skinny to suit the role.
