Story of Laut Aao Trisha
This is the story of 18 year old girl Trisha Swaika, who is the daughter of an affluent businessman Prateek Swaika (Jai Kalra). It turns out that when the elders are having their get-together to celebrate the latter’s success, the teenagers including Trisha head over to a beach party. Trisha doesn’t turn up, even though she had told her parents that she would be back by 2 AM.
Amrita Swaika (Bhagyashree), Trisha’s mother and aunt Lavanya (Rajeshwari Sachdev) go back to the beach and speak to some of the party-mongers in the scene, including Trisha’s cousins but they don’t have any clue about the whereabouts of the girl. The parents search the entire night for the daughter, in vain.
Prateek gets ace detective ACP Kabir (Eijaz Khan) to work on the case. It soon transpires that there is more to it than what meets the eye. A discarded phone is found on the beach, which belongs to Trisha.
Once Trisha disappears, the secret lives of every family member begins to tumble out of closet, including family history, affairs and in-house secrets. The long list of suspects include immediate family members, cousins, their parents, uncles, aunts, fellow students, former employees of the Swaika family and other friends who would frequent to the same place that Trisha would frequent, before she disappeared.
Is Laut Aao Trisha, the only remake of Donde Esta Elisa?
Actually, the original version is a Chilean version of the same name, telecast in 2008 and produced by TVN 2009. It was written by Pablo Andrés Illanes Tapia, who has written lots of telenovelas, including ¿Dónde está Elisa? Apart from being remade in Spanish by Telemundo for USA, it has been also shown in other countries, like in Turkey with the name ‘Kızım Nerede?’ in Indonesia as ‘Di Mana Melani’, in the Philippines, as ‘Nasaan Ka, Elisa?’ and in India, as ‘Laut Aao Trisha’.
Is it based on real story?
Yes, to an extent. The original writer Pablo Illanes who wrote the Chilean telenovela ‘Dónde está Elisa’ based his story on the life of the missing British native, Madeline McCann in Portugal. But while in real life, the person who was missing was a little girl, the protagonist in this version as well as other versions including ‘Laut Aao Trisha’ is a teenager.
Also, the disappearance of Elisa (or Trisha for Indian audiences) is taken from the real life disappearance of one Jorge Matute Johns, a teenager from Chile, who disappeared from a party at a local pub, and was never seen again.

How bold is Laut Aao Trisha?
Life Ok which offers stiff competition to Colors (best shows – Comedy Nights with Kapil, Bigg Boss) and Sony TV (best shows Crime Patrol and CID) with its reality show ‘Savdhaan India’, is looking for a clear competitive advantage with ‘Laut Aao Trisha’. While Savdhaan India, itself has been bold enough to make some people squirm, Laut Aao Trisha promises to be as uninhibited with its content, if not more. The story line is the same as the Spanish TV-series, it is adapted from. While the opening sequences and first few episodes were shot in Goa, the rest of them have been shot in Mumbai, principally, Film City.
Life OK general manager, Ajit Thakur says, “Dónde está Elisa “ is quite bold, but we had to tone down the Indian content, keeping our audiences in mind. But by Indian standards, Laut Aao Trisha is the boldest show on Indian television’. The show explores in-house relations and crimes. He also revealed that LAT is one of the most expensive shows on Indian TV, more than a conventional regular TV soap.
Still having said, the Indian show can be watched by families and is targeted to the middle-class and the upper-middle class strata.

Who is the kidnapper in Laut Aao Trisha? Does she die?
The makers of the show in India have said that they have stuck to the Spanish version and just toned down the bold content. Now, in the Spanish version ‘Dónde está Elisa’, Bruno Alberti is the kidnapper. Bruno is Elisa’s (Trisha) uncle (married to her aunt) and it is revealed that he and Elisa were having a clandestine affair. It is revealed that Elisa planned the kidnapping herself, when she found out that her father had an extra-marital affair. Later, it turns out that Cecilia (who is Bruno’s wife) also kills many people including Elisa and her cheating husband. Now you can interpret the Indian version accordingly and make your judgement.
