Preetika Rao, is the sister of the popular Indian actress Amrita Rao. She is 25 years old (born on May 29,1992). The talented actress was born in Mangalore, Karnataka and grew up in Mumbai.
Journey into Bollywood
Preetika studied in Convent Girls, Prabhadevi (Mumbai). She enrolled into Sophia College, Mumbai with BA in History Major with a degree in advertising and diploma in journalism, before venturing into modeling. Her break-through advertisement was with Cadbury Dairy Milk. She has worked in more than 45 ad campaigns, when she was just a teenager. She also began contributing as a film journalist for articles in Mumbai Mirror, Asian Age, Deccan Chronicle and Banglore Mirror. She is the youngest columnist to have her own Bollywood column with the popular South-Side magazine in South India.
Preetika debuted in a Tamil romantic film in 2010 called Chikku Bukku, co-starring Arya. Her second film was a Telugu movie called Priyudu, a romantic movie, which was followed by ‘Rebel’. In 2012, Preetika took a break to pursue a course in screenplay writing from New York Film Academy.
Preetika has debuted in Indian television with the role of the protagonist Aaliya Ghulam Hyder in the Muslim social drama called Beintehaa on Colors TV. Beintehaa turned out to become one of the most popular shows on Colors Channel. The show not only topped Indian TV popularity ratings, it also earned a huge fan-base for the actress in many countries like UK, Indonesia, Africa, Turkey and Pakistan. Her superb portrayal of ‘Aaliya Gulam Haider’ won her many awards including the Best Actress Award in January 2015.
