Rati Pandey is an actress on Indian television and is well known for her role of the protagonist in the daily TV show ‘Hitler Didi.’ She has garnered the love and appreciation of the audience via her portrayal of the character Indira Sharma. Rati first became famous after she played the role of Nupur Bhushan, a young and cheerful girl in the 2008 TV show Miley Jab Hum Tum which was telecast on Star One.
Early life and education
Rati Pandey was born into a Brahmin family on 11th September 1982 in the state of Assam. Her parents are originally from Patna, Bihar. Her father owns and runs a construction business and her brother is also a part of it. Rati idolizes her father and is very close to him. From the onset she wanted to become a businesswomen, but fate had other plans and she became one of leading actresses on Indian television.
Rati Pandey lived in Assam for about 7 years and finished her primary school education. Her parents then moved to Patna where she continued her schooling at St. Karen’s High School. She moved once again to Delhi, and finally finished her schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya located at Sadiq Nagar in New Delhi.Rati holds a commerce degree with specialization in Economics. She completed her graduation from Miranda House, Delhi University. During her college years, Rati actively participated in sports and was a good javelin thrower.The 5’4″ tall beauty is also very good with languages and is fluent in around 8 different languages.
Rati Pandey was and is very passionate about music. This is the reason why she participated in the singing reality show on Zee TV “Idea Zee Cinestars Ki Khoj,” in the year 2006. Adnan Sami was the judge on this show and it was Rati’s first appearance on TV. Rati used the visibility gained from this platform to try for a career in television.
The debut TV show of Rati was Deepti Bhatnagar’s Shaadi Street which aired on Star One. She essayed the lead character of ‘Nandini.’ She then starred as the female lead in Shreya Creations produced drama ‘Har Ghar Kuch Kehta Hai’ which was telecast on Zee TV.Rati finally found widespread fame and popularity in 2008 after she landed the role of Nupur Bhushan in the soap ‘Miley Jab Hum Tum.’ Nupur was so popular with the fans that the producers had to bring her back into the show by widespread demand, after she was taken out of the show.After the show ended in 2010, Rati took part in the Saroj Khan and Terence judged dance reality show Nachle Ve aired on NDTV Imagine. Rati was also a participant on Star Plus’s travel related reality show ‘Ritz Jee Le Ye Pal.’
In 2010, Rati Pandey found stardom after playing the lead role in the hit serial Hitler Didi. She played the dual role of Indira Sharma and Zara Malik Khan in the show. She first played the lead character of Indira Sharma, but after the leap, she came back as inspector Zara Malik Khan.Rati states that her journey with the serial was amazing, but the double role was quite taxing on her. The two characters appear in almost every scene; due to this she had to frequently change her costumes which increased the overall workload. Scenes which had both the lead characters at the same time also created a lot of problems for her. But she was very happy to be a part of the show.
According to rumors, Rati was allegedly in a relationship with fellow actor Anas Rashid. However, both have denied it and state that they are nothing more than just good friends. Pandey maintains that she is very much single and not dating anyone.It may be noted that Rati and Anas worked together in a movie titled ‘Bappi da Tussi Great Ho’ along with actors Amar Upadhyay, Rajat Tokas, Indrani Haldar, and even Bappi Lahiri.
Rati’s hobbies include watching movies, gardening, and singing. Her true passion is music and she can’t live without it. It is kind of a relaxation therapy for her. At the moment, music is just a hobby for Pandey, but she may opt for a career in music in the near future.
When Rati is not busy shooting, she likes to shop, clean her home, or catch a movie. She goes absolutely gaga over shoes and handbags. If comes across a specific shoe or purse and does not have enough cash at that moment, then she tends to come back the next day and buy it. Her handbag will always have a lipstick, wallet, mirror, hairbrush, and her ATM cards. Rati is fine with flirting but cannot tolerate liars. The happy-go-lucky gal is very possessive of her friends and the concept of friendship.
Pandey is most comfortable in jeans and a tee or a shirt, accessorized with many things. She likes the color white as it symbolizes purity, while black is hot. Her favorite book is William Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice.
