Sakshi Tanwar is an actress on Indian Television and in the Hindi film industry. She is regarded as one of the few leading ladies on Indian TV. She first gained fame after essaying the character of Parvati in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, a daily drama which aired on Star Plus. Her debut on TV was as an anchor on national broadcasting channel Doordarshan. She played the role of Priya in the TV show Bade Achhe Lagte Hain alongside Ram Kapoor, which ran from 2011 to 2014.

Sakshi Tanwar was born in Alwar, Rajasthan on 12thJanuary 1973. She belonged to a middle-class family and her father has retired from the CBI. She did her schooling from several Kendriya Vidyalayas and finished her graduation from Lady Shri Ram College located in New Delhi.
After graduation, Sakshi Tanwar started preparing for the Indian Administrative Services and Mass Communications entrance tests. During this time one of her close friends advised her to audition for ‘Albela Sur Mela,’ a TV program based on film songs and telecast on Doordarshan. The 5’4″ talented actress got selected and thus began her journey as an actress.
Sakshi Tanwar began her career as an anchor for the TV show ‘Albela Sur Mela’ aired on Doordarshan. In 1996, she debuted as an actress in the tele-serial Dastoor. She subsequently portrayed different characters in varied soaps such as Ehsaas, X-Zone, and Bhanwar before getting her big break in ‘Rajdhani’ where she played a central character. The turning point in Sakshi’s career however came after she was selected to play the role of Parvati in the daily soap Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki.
Sakshi Tanwar continued working in other serials like Devi, and as Teepri in the very popular soap Balika Vadhu aired on Colors TV. In 2002, she also worked in a digital movie titled ‘Kahin Door,’ with Sandeep Verma as the director. In 2008, she featured in some films, including ‘Coffee House,’ where she portrayed the role of the main lead. Her career came a full circle when she appeared as the host of Crime Patrol, a crime series on TV and an audience favorite.
Tanwar’s work in movies include a cameo in the movie C Kkompany produced by Ekta Kapoor, as a municipal officer in the film Saluun, and bold characters in 2 short movies Bawra Mann and O Re Manva. The latter won the best International Narrative Short at the 2009 New York International Film Festival, while the former got lots of praise and won several international and national accolades.
Sakshi Tanwar is also the creative director at Positive Thinkerz, a production company. She has helmed ‘Sammaan Ek Adhikaar’ as a director. Currently, Sakshi is playing the female lead to Ram Kapoor in the very popular TV show ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain.’

At 40, the 1.63 meter tall Sakshi Tanwar is still single and happy. Her family is quite progressive and understands that marriage will happen when Sakshi feels that it is time for marriage and wants it.
Sakshi believes that marriage involves complementing each other and has no relevance to being complete. She believes that just like all other things ‘marriage’ also becomes a thing of the past and that the only constant in life is change. She does believe in destiny and asserts that whenever destiny prompts her to get married, she will.
Sakshi Tanwar wants her husband to be well-read, intelligent and sensitive. She adds, “A good sense of humor won’t hurt.” She reminisces the time when years ago her parents had met a prospective groom’s family and they inquired of her if she would stop working after marriage. The idea of ‘stopping to work post marriage’ cringed her and the marriage never took place. Sakshi says that her parents despite being from humble backgrounds are quite progressive in their thoughts and have left it up to her to choose her own husband.

I like to travel and take a seven-day off whenever I get time.” Sonam says that she is not fashion conscious and would rather wear comfortable clothes than stylish ones. She is partial to colors for her clothes. ” Sakshi says that her hobby is cooking. She says, ” I love cooking and I do not have a full-time maid. If I cook and someone likes it, I feel really happy.”
